A dedicated educator with 26 total years in education as a teacher, coach, and administrator, he spent 15 of his 20 administrative years at Crystal River High and Crystal River Middle Schools. He also spent over 15 years coaching multiple sports and is the former Principal of Madison County High School in Madison County, Florida—home of the seven-time state champion Cowboys!

A sixth-generation Floridian born in Inverness and raised in Crystal River, Mr. Brooks is a proud Crystal River High School graduate who played college football at Valdosta State University. He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education from the University of South Florida.

Mr. Brooks' family roots in Citrus County run deep: his parents graduated from Booker T. Washington High School (now Inverness Middle School), and his siblings, wife Amanda, and children Amesha and Chalacia are all Citrus County school graduates.

For Mr. Brooks, ensuring that our greatest resource—our students—are fully prepared for post-school success both academically and socially is far more than an anthem or catchphrase; it is our duty.
