Citrus High School is proud to open our Construction Academy for the upcoming 2022 – 2023 school year by offering our students another pathway to achieve personal and academic success. The purpose of our Construction Academy is to provide students the best foundation possible for postsecondary opportunities in the building construction industry and/or prepare them for the skills needed to be competitive as they enter the workforce.
The curriculum will be through the Home Builders Institute (HBI), and they are the nation’s leading educational resource for Career & Technical Education (CTE) in the building industry. The Pre-Apprenticeship Training (PACT) is the curriculum ideally suited for school-based instruction. It facilitates the knowledge and skills in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, brick masonry, landscaping, facilities maintenance, painting, and weatherization. Students will learn residential construction focused skills, receive hands-on training, and master the knowledge needed for postsecondary success or future employment.
Students will have the opportunity to earn many professional career certifications through the Pre-Apprenticeship Training including:

- Carpentry
- Core
- Electrical
This program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare students for further education and careers in the Architecture & Construction career cluster; provides technical skill proficiency, and includes competency-based applied learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills and occupation-specific skills, and knowledge of all aspects of the Architecture & Construction career cluster.
